Colorstrology: colour meets astrology
November 7th, 2007What’s your sign? Colour sign, that is.
Your personal birthday colour
Pantone’s created a website, Colorstrology.com, that has a colour for each day of the year, your astrological chart by colour.
So for anyone born today, your colorstrological — sure, that’s a word — chart reads:
“You can help many people if you keep true to the spiritual part of your nature. It is important for you to stay connected to generous and loving people, as partnerships are an intricate part of your life and your happiness.
Writing, medicine and sharing your thoughts with others are all activities that resonate with your innate gifts. Your personal color helps balance your intellect with your emotions.
Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with the color Chili Pepper reminds you to stay centered as you connect with others and to share your point of view with an open heart.”
Born on 24 August? You’re “grape nectar”
If you were born on the 24th of August like me, you are “complex, bright and responsible” and your colour is Grape Nectar.
Apparently, we “enjoy learning and want to be stimulated mentally” (true). We also have “creative ability and will feel most satisfied when ou are expressing your unique talents” (hm, they may be onto something here).
“Your senses are acute and you are very aware of your surroundings” (well, Malcolm does run a company called Five Senses, and we talk all the time about the importance of engaging your senses to be present in the world). “Having things of beauty around you gives you great pleasure” (fond glance at my newly arrived skein of hand-dyed yarn in brilliant indigo).
“Your personal color embodies strength, passion and perserverance.” (Right on.)
“Wearing, meditating” (clearly, a New Age audience here) “or surrounding yourself with the color Grape Nectar helps you move through fear so that you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.”
Well all in all, a pretty cool colorstrological reading. Except personally I’d say shades of purple aren’t really the best for “moving through fear”. They’re more about individuality and uniqueness but can be on the cold side, which doesn’t help fear.
orange to combat fear
Colorstrology’s choice of orange for the month of August is better for moving through fear — its warmth, sunniness and energy are all about forward movement and positive action.
You can learn more about the colour psychology behind orange in my article, The Hidden Meaning of Orange.
Orange is a colour that many people don’t like, which is a shame, because it’s a powerful and positive colour and used carefully, can have a major impact.
A good bit of fun anyway. What color are you?

Hey, my color is Hot sauce. Cool. I mean, hot.
