Taking the cats for a walk
December 13, 2007
We get a lot of confused looks and amused smiles when we take our two cats for their daily exercise.
Folks think we’re a bit nuts, but I always get a good laugh out of watching just how much fun Caper and Nutmeg have sprinting across the old school fields, chasing Malcolm and each other.
So I took along my camera and filmed a little cat video clip of our walk today:
Walking the cats video
The thing you have to realise is that in our town of 2,000, cats get killed pretty regularly by cars driving too fast.
The animals wander out into the street and blam! So Malcolm and I decided when ours were but wee kittens that we’d walk them ourselves and keep an eye out for traffic.
Now it’s become the only way I get any exercise, because Caper and Nutmeg love it so much they whine, beg and plead until we take them up for their run.
Making this web clip was also a fun way to learn how to use iMovie, a Mac programme for editing your home movies and making them ready for the web. Then I also tried out Google Video by uploading my clip to their website.
All very home-video amateurish, but it was good fun.

I thought I’d see your cats on leashes and I’m amazed that you can take them out with them. They actually listen to you and follow you! Amazing. It looks so pretty over there!
That is so awesome! Great job on the movie, but your subject matter steals the show– so cute! They are so BIG now! Am I just hallucinating or were they much smaller when I first met them via webcam?
Oh my! That is adorable!!
